Overstimulation during PMDD seems inevitable, but there are things that can help. For example, quieting the noise, both visual and literal noise, can help the severity of impact it has on your nervous system.
The Big Three
-
Lighting: warm lamps, no overhead lights, dimmer/amber bulbs.
 -
Sound: white noise/fan; quiet room; noise-canceling headphones.
 -
Clutter: clear one surface you see first (entry/desk/nightstand).

Make a “soothing zone”
- Soft throw
 - weighted blanket
 - favorite mug
 - calm playlist
 - gentle scent (if tolerable)
 - low chair or floor cushion

My personal favorite sensory soothing craft is using SeaPaints. There's just something about the way it goes on, so smooth and virtually odorless that zens me right out. The fast dry times satisfy that impatient itch, making i the perfect little dopamine hit.
