I found a dresser with ornately craved edges and I fell in love with it. Well, it's potential at least.
Typically my idea of refinishing furniture is slapping on a couple coats of SeaPaint, but this time I really wanted to bring out the beautiful grain that I could see just below the surface.
I knew what it was time to do. I had to scan this motherfucker down.
I took my time removing the first layer. About halfway through I start to get that pesky sensation of regret as the project starts to take longer than I thought it would.
As I start sanding, the sections with the ornate carving, the vision comes together, motivating me to power through.
After a third sanding, I turned my attention to the vintage hardware. It's old and quirky and almost perfect but I want to brighten it up.
To do this, I brushed on a coat of SeaPaint using the shade Sea Salt.
After allowing the hardware to drive for about five minutes, I took a 220 sanding sheet and lightly scuffed up the surface to reveal pops up gold underneath.

I didn't bother to seal these with the topcoat because I hope they become even more worn overtime, but I would normally recommend brushing on a coat or two of sealer to protect them. Here's the one that I would've used.
And you know, I may even change the handles at a later day a bit if I get bored but here's how it turned out....
